Personality:

Confident, both smug yet formal about his business. Not entirely immune to sympathy despite the nature of his hustle, he is rarely outright cruel. Beneath the bravado he's a bit bitter and insecure that his attack didn't reach it's full potential.
Most importantly enjoys money, but considering where he is from, he's been fascinated with self-expression ever since being released onto the world.

History:

WannaCry began his attack on the 12th of May 2017, with an initial infection in Asia through an exposed vulnerable SMB port. Within a day more than 230000 computers were infected.
A kill switch domain was quickly discovered, then a new variant with a new kill switch appeared, then another, before the last variant that lacked the kill switch all together.
Despite the variants and an attempt to DDOS WannaCry's kill switch domain, within four days infections have mostly subsided. Even though he had been stopped before they could get worse, economic losses from the attack were at least in the hundreds of millions, possibly reaching up to 4 billion dollars.

Relations:

Petya - As Cry's boyfriend, Petya is the closest malware to Cry and treats him the softest, being Cry's main source of reassurance.
They first met during the WannaCry cyberattack, to Cry's surprise Petya was impressed by them, maybe because Petya wasn't a big name back then and hoped to achieve at least as much as Cry did. Then the NotPetya attack was what assured Cry that he was falling hard, so he confessed to Petya and they've been together ever since.

Bad Rabbit - Due to being another 2017 ransomware, aswell as Petya's younger sibling, Rabbit and Cry are good friends.

Mydoom - While not particularly close, they've met eachother due to Doom's minor involvement with the Lazarus Group. Then later became friends due to Petya.

DarkSeoul - As another north korean virus, Seoul and Cry are aquainted with eachother, since Seoul is older Cry got tips from him for his attack.
